What prompts a family to schedule a portrait session? What nudges YOU to schedule a session? We like to know, so we ask “why”? Replies vary from ‘it’s been a long time’ OR ‘our family has grown since we were last photographed’ OR ‘it’s our anniversary’ OR ‘our daughter leaves for college in the fall’ OR ‘just because’. Each of these replies are great moments to celebrate with a professional portrait.
Our next question, which is an important one, is “where do you want to display your new artwork”. And frequently we hear ‘I don’t know’, ‘I have not thought about that’, or ‘I have no wall space’. When a client sets time aside in their busy schedule to be photographed, they have paid the session fee, they have spent time thinking, selecting and shopping for clothes to be worn, booked haircuts for the family, arranged for a manicure or make-up appointment and gotten everyone to the studio on time. After all this effort it makes sense to have an idea of where your new artwork will be displayed or how a grouping of portraits will look when hung together.
We have a solution for that! Through the use of fantastic presentation software, we are able to show how a framed portrait of YOUR family will look over YOUR sofa or over YOUR fireplace while sitting in our presentation room. It is as simple as using your smartphone to send images of the areas in your home where artwork might be displayed. We then show those spaces with mockups of different framing options, single portraits vs a grouping or something you would have never thought of. It is super cool!
Jim called several months back to refresh the family portrait we created some 10+ years ago. The cute little siblings are now grown with the youngest just about to finished college, so it has been a while. As Elise chatted with Jim, she mentioned the RoomView tool and he readily sent over several images. He followed the simple instructions to include a piece of paper in the frame which allows us to calibrate the software to accurately scale to size. This is key to enabling us to show actual sizes of framed portraits grouped together in a particular space. By being able to visualize finished artwork in a location, gives clients the assuredness that what they are ordering is the correct size and will fit the space in additional to looking fabulous.
The experience of walking with our clients from the start to the finish of a portrait session is one of the many things we so enjoy about what we do.
